About the Role

 

Job Tittle: Legal Counsel (Commercial with Tourism and Hospitality Experience) - Part Time

 

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commercial Lawyer to join the Extreme team. The ideal candidate will have specialized expertise in the hospitality, tourism and real estate sectors and possess a proven track record in handling legal matters within those industries. This is an exciting opportunity for a part time corporate lawyer to join our team as sole counsel.

This is a challenging environment where priorities can change at short notice. As the role is so varied, it will require the person to be adaptable, enthusiastic and a good team player. You can look forward to responsibilities and involvement that will provide you with a rewarding and fast-paced day to day. As a Commercial Lawyer, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of commercial and contractual matters specific to the hospitality, tourism media and entertainment sectors.

You would be working remotely and reporting directly to the CEO. If you are up for a challenge, with a willingness to develop and learn, and looking for a varied workload, we want to hear from you.

Compensation £4000 per month

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

 

  • Leading legal support for all business divisions at Extreme International.

  • Providing timely and high-quality legal advice to manage risk appropriately and support business units in achieving their goals.

  • Critical role in deal making and contractual negotiation, drafting and execution.

  • Review, amend and draft a variety of commercial agreements, including but not limited to vendor contracts, partnerships, leases, licenses, supplier agreements, sponsorship etc.

  • Ensure the company's operations, practices, and policies remain compliant with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards specific to the hospitality and tourism sector.

  • Working with IP professionals to shape and protect Extreme’s portfolio.

  • Identify potential legal risks and develop effective strategies to mitigate them.

  • Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, marketing, and HR, to provide legal guidance and support.

  • Advise on special projects as needed.

 

Required Skills and Experience:

 

  • English-qualified lawyer – candidates with between 6-8 PQE are likely to have the relevant skills/ knowledge for this position (but we will consider any applicants with relevant experience)

  • Hotel management contracts and hospitality development experience

  • In-depth understanding of the legal landscape and industry-specific regulations within the hospitality and tourism sector.

  • Knowledge of relevant laws such as contract law, labour and employment laws, data protection laws, and intellectual property rights is essential in hospitality, tourism, media, and/or entertainment industries.

  • Knowledge of legal and regulatory framework, particularly in Europe and Middle East

  • Good track record of promoting risk management, compliance, and good corporate governance.

  • High level planning and organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and strong communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • The ability to nuance messaging of complex topics for different audiences.

  • Can-do attitude with an enthusiasm to connect with the team and their work.

  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

  • Willingness to embrace change in a dynamic corporation.

  • Be a positive and energetic team player – be someone we would want to go on a road trip across Europe; hang out at a mountain bike park with; and spend a day surfing!
