Extreme Destinations Development Manager

As part of the Extreme Destinations development division, you will play a lead strategic and managerial role in driving specific projects forwards from the initial concept stage through design and planning and across the construction and operations. You will be responsible for the collaborative destination planning and development with partner developers, local and national governments, suppliers, and contractors.


Reporting to the Managing Director of EXTREME Destinations, you will be responsible for managing developments through the various project stages, on a worldwide basis and supporting in the evaluation of project opportunities.


The ideal candidate will be comfortable communicating with multiple different business units to align the goals of diverse groups and generate new avenues for income. Once development goals have been established, you will be responsible for conducting due diligence, budgeting, and creating timelines for necessary projects or events.


Responsibilities include (but not limited to):


  • Collaborate with senior management, employees, contractors, and local teams to ensure goals align.

  • Developing and implementing strategies coherent with overall business objectives, capabilities, and brand guidelines.

  • Ensuring qualitative development processes and outcomes.

  • Presenting to and negotiating with senior personnel (CEO's/Board Level).

  • Consulting with designers, engineers, architects, business planning team and consultants.

  • Managing resources, budgets, communication, and creative assets.

  • Collaborating closely with various departments and associates.

  • Writing detailed proposals.

  • Reviewing and analysing project documents, studies, and feasibility plans.

  • Negotiating, managing, and monitoring contracts.

  • Evaluating contractor performance and approving or terminating contracts.

  • Working with, consulting, and providing direction/advice to senior management team and other internal stakeholders.

  • Developing and managing the implementation of the destination with government, regional, community and industry stakeholders.

  • Representing EXTREME at meetings and events as appropriate.


Qualifications and Desired Experience:


  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in development and/or operations of active leisure and entertainment destinations, facilities, resorts, or parks.

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in business, project management, finance, tourism or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience.

  • Demonstrate experience in developing and managing program and project budgets and organisational resources to deliver on goals.

  • Demonstrate ability to effectively manage multiple, simultaneous complex issues while still delivering results.

  • Passion, participation, interest and knowledge of action and adventure sports.

  • Confidence at presenting to senior personnel (CEO’s, board level).

  • Pro-active business development skill set, selling to and presenting to potential partners, writing detailed proposals based on the project and partners requirements.

  • Ability to project manage and consult with designers, engineers, architects, business planning team and consultants.
