When asked what his biggest dream was upon joining the DEWALT team, Ethan answered “to ride Rampage one day”
For those of you, who don’t know, Red Bull Rampage is the toughest, most viewed freeride mountain bike event on the planet. The event takes place in Virgin, Utah and is operated on an invite only basis. The 21 handpicked riders are judged on their choice of lines, their technical ability and the complexity of their tricks.
Rampage is not one for the faint hearted however, as the pictures demonstrate. The event was cancelled in 2004 due to the level of risk that the riders were taking. Some persuasion and the addition of some wooden features meant the event was reopened in 2008.
The selection process gives an automatic invite to the top 12 riders from the previous years competition, and well as 9 ‘wildcard’ riders, one of whom this year was Ethan Nell, who will finally be competing in his home event. It is a dream come true for Ethan!
Ethan grew up in Utah and Rampage being his home event, he used to go as a spectator. One can only imagine the excitement he is feeling as he is now competing just a matter of years later. EXTREME and DEWALT wish the best of luck to Ethan on his rampage down the dusty slopes of Virgin Utah. We hope the years of experience in his home town are able to lead him to the podium.
