From 1st - 12th November 2021 the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. The COP26 summit will bring world leaders and organisations together to accelerate action on climate change, the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change.

EXTREME’s activation at COP26 has been inspired by our passion to protect our planet and our belief that the young generation need a platform for their voice to be heard at COP. Set to be the most affected by climate change, their active participation is of paramount importance.

Driven by this EXTREME are creating a dynamic hub at COP called the EXTREME Hang Out, a platform for active participation and a space for inspiration, engagement, education, and entertainment.

With the overall goal to help drive the younger generation’s vision for a sustainable future, the EXTREME Hangout will be where young people can come together to share ideas, learn from others, be inspired and ultimately leave with a renewed passion, understanding and urgency to help drive the green agenda.

Located on The Ferry, a well-known Glasgow venue with a capacity of 600, we are activating 12 days of panel discussions from opinion leaders, curated by our content partner One Young World, as well as experiential zones, live displays, and entertaining evenings. The talks will happen downstairs with a great space upstairs for meetings, coffee and WI-FI, plus a whole range of brilliant events in the evening with DJs, live music and more. We will spark conversation, drive exposure and engagement via the live broadcast of the whole event through EXTREME’s media network and partner channels.

Enabled by EXTREME, the event is supported by our partner NGOs and aligned sponsors who share our purpose. The key messages and discussion points coming out of the EXTREME Hangout will reverberate around the world, engaging young people from the Highlands of Scotland to the coral atolls of the Indian Ocean, uniting them in their vision for a sustainable future.

Networking & idea sharing

For the past 26 years the United Nations has brought together almost every country on earth for global climate summits, called COPs (Conference of the Parties). In the time since the first ever COP in Berlin in 1995, climate change has transformed from being a fringe issue to a global crisis.

This year, the 26th COP will be held in Glasgow from 1st – 12th November 2021. With an expected attendance of over 30,000, COP26 will be the most significant climate event since the 2015 Paris Agreement and is set to drive vital and urgent action for the future of our planet.
