EXTREME drove demand to help sell out the BIG GAME 9 event
BIG GAME brings you to Twickenham stadium for a Harlequins festive fixture experience like no other. Established back in 2007, BIG GAME has risen and captivated a huge audience in the rugby world. The family day out provides more than just a rugby match, an opportunity to combine the sport with other awe-inspiring activities.
Harlequins BIG GAME approached EXTREME to host the headline entertainment, promote the event to a new audience and drive ticket sales at their ninth match on December 27th 2016. EXTREME utilised their brand reach, ambassadors, activations, content creation and media platforms to achieve this.
EXTREME, Harlequins and BIG GAME 9 are iconic brands. At EXTREME we encompass action sports, music and art. Our athletes and ambassadors are involved in major global events, stunts and activations which are streamed across the world.
We took EXTREME athletes Ben Savage (current MTB world champion), Daryl Brown (MTB world record holder), Matti Hemmings (five-time Guinness World Recorder holder), Scott Wilson (former MTB Trials World champion) and James Jones (Welsh BMX champion) to Twickenham to take over the stadium and it’s West Car Park before the BIG GAME 9 rugby match, providing demonstrations on various ramps and obstacles.
The build up to kick-off in the stadium provided further action around the hallowed turf of Twickenham Stadium. The riders combined with free runners, Bogdan Pascal and Luke Madigan created an engaging and jaw dropping display.
This pre-match show was synchronised to a bespoke music mix by John Hendicott, a world leading music producer, highlighting tracks that reminded supporters of 2016, a year to remember.
Finishing with an eagerly anticipated ball delivery using basejumper athlete, Gary Connery, shocked the audience, creating a fantastic opener and connection between action sports and rugby.
