NEW ACTION SPORTS INDUSTRY MAG LAUNCHES
The Extreme Group, the holding Company for Extreme Sports Channel, have teamed up with SportBusiness Group and Remedy to launch a new trade magazine called Actionsports Source.
Geared towards the actionsports industry, Actionsports Source will launch in August 2002. Thanks to relationships with ISPO, Surf Shop Expo and Black Diamond, it will be circulated free of charge to all European dealers with commercial interests in street, surf and snow, as well as to brand owners and distributors.
Commenting on the new launch, ISPO's Director Peter Knoll said, "In one of the fastest growing sectors of the sporting goods industries, there is increasingly fierce competition amongst the brands for share of store. With so many quality brands, and only so much shelf space and stock capacity, retailers are having to make some tough decisions. This is why a show like ISPO and a magazine like Actionsports Source is so important to the trade."
Al Gosling, CEO of the Extreme Group added, "Watching the growth of action sports over the last couple of years, it has become increasingly obvious to me that the industry was being ignored by the traditional trade press. It is our aim to fill that gap and produce a magazine catering and appealing to the industry"
SportBusiness Group, with its portfolio
of information services and global contacts, will provide content on trends,
analysis and retail
intelligence. The founders of 'Remedy', Garry Maidment and Clive Ripley have
been involved in the snow, surf and skate scene for many years and will provide
industry contacts, editorial expertise for news, features and a cutting edge
design for the new launch.
Andy Rice, Publishing Director of SportBusiness Group concluded: "We have a great challenge ahead to produce a design that is appealing enough to be picked up by a very media savvy market, with sufficiently commercial and relevant content to make it a valuable resource for the retailer. Remedy and Extreme are perfect partners for us to achieve these objectives. Our research has shown there is clearly a need for such a magazine, and initial indications are that it will be a great platform for new product launches and trade communication from the large number of successful brands competing in this space."
